It’s been one year of blogging! I asked the computer to do some quick math and in all we’ve written 12,260 words across 22 posts about baby and family life, or a novellete. Neat!

Looking back at early posts is already a joy. They help me take what is an abstract feeling, your child growing up and changing every day, and turn it into something concrete. We’ve still got the photo library, but I don’t know if my brain is built for photo streams. Or streams of anything except water for that matter.

Apart from personal satisfaction, two surprise joys of blogging have been: 1) connecting with parents of older kids whose memories of their kids are sparked by the writing and 2) quickly plugging new people who enter our life into our inner world. It’s been a really beautiful avenue for connection.

Our process has evolved too. We now have a drafts folder going with ideas/emotions/reflections/realizations/tips going as they come to mind. And whenever the time to write presents itself, one of us will flesh one of those ideas out. On occasion we have held back on writing this or that because this blog is shared with family and friends.

Here’s to another year!
