My morning walks with Sajan are a simple and consistent opportunity for us to hang out before I get started with my work day. I realized I only have an hour in the morning and a couple hours at night to hang with him, so I’m motivated to get out the door even if we’ve had a rough night of sleep.

We wake up around 7am. He feeds and we both head downstairs geared up for our walk. I strap on my weighted vest (I’m at 20lbs now—yay to millennial trends!) and put him into the stroller for our 30 minute walk around the neighborhood. We’re at about 3 months of doing this and it’s amazing to see how much he has changed.

It’s such a nice time, just the both of us. It usually goes something like this: The first 10 minutes he stares at me, smiles, babbles, coos and all. The rest of the time he looks all around him, taking in the sun, the trees, and listening to the cars go by. Or so I think. Sometimes he cries, sometimes he naps. I think I’ll look back on this time fondly when he doesn’t have an opinion of where he wants to go or what he wants to see. He’s content just looking at his mama with a background of the outside world around him.
